Red Oak Farms Wins
"Best Tasting Restaurant Beef in America"
with Certified Hereford Beef
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Certified Hereford Beef (CHB) proves its credibility with consumers as the American Tasting Institute (ATI) Awards of the America's (AOTA) are presented. Red Oak Farms, Red Oak, Iowa, supplier of Certified Hereford Beef, swept the competition at the award ceremonies March 29. For the third consecutive year, CHB entrees were awarded "Best Tasting Restaurant Beef in America" along with "Best Supermarket Beef in America" for the second year. This year, Red Oak Farms added a new award to their winnings as "My Favorite Jerky" won the "Best Tasting Beef Jerky in America," award.
America's best food and beverage products from North America were honored at the ceremonies in the Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall in New York City. CHB products were chosen as winners over a selection of beef products from some premier food companies in the United States. According to Jesse Sartain, national director of the Awards of the Americas, the CHB entrees were judged against several brands and grades of beef.
AOTA of San Francisco honors excellence in diverse fields across North America. The executive chefs, which compromise the board of directors of ATI, conduct blind tasting on a gratis no fee basis as part of their participation in the association. Products judged excellent are issued an Award of Excellence, products judged Best of Show are offered a best of show gold medal endorsement and license to display the gold medal.
The purpose of the awards is to honor excellence in different fields of endeavor. Red Oak Farms is a 1999 Gold Medal licensee in North America in the ATI, consumer food category. "Each of the hundreds of products honored from the seventy-eight winning companies are truly the best-tasting products in America," commented Sartain. The winning products will now be tested in five cities on a national tour, including New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
An AOTA Award is valuable to the award winning companies. Some use the Gold Medal Award extensively in packaging, advertising, point-of-sale materials and at trade shows.

CHB is a branded beef program established by the American Hereford Association in 1994 with the threefold mission of satisfying consumer demand for tender, great-tasting beef; enhancing marketing opportunities of retailers, restaurateurs, food service distributors and processors; and increasing the demand for commercial Hereford cattle.
